Welcome to Chapelfields Colts Football Club, we are an FA Charter Standard Club based in Coventry. We welcome and nurture over 200 boys and girls from the age of 6 up to 17. The children have a wide range of abilities and come from all different backgrounds.
The club was founded in 1977 and has grown to one of the largest clubs in the City. We feel that the children thoroughly enjoy the football, the proof being that children who started with us in the youngest age group are still playing for us in the older leagues. Because we are one of the largest clubs in Coventry we can tailor the needs of an individual child to a certain team, this ensures that a child is playing to their ability and in so, will always feels confident.
| WHAT IS A FA CHARTER STANDARD CLUB? |
In 2001 the FA launched the Charter Standard Award Scheme for Football Clubs it aims to raise standards in grassroots football, recognise quality & reach excellence.
The FA Charter Standard Scheme is a best practice guide set out by the Football Association and monitored by them, it sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people.
All our coaches have attained the FA level one football coaching certificate, this means, all our coaches/managers have been FA CRB checked, they have all passed a First Aid Course, and they have all attended a Child Protection Course, and lastly have passed the FA football coaching course.
Some of our coaches have also passed the FA Level 2 coaching course.
Our coaches give up their own time to work with the children, whether it be on training night, organising and attending matches or fund raising.
We believe that all children should be able to play football within their ability. The managers and assistants work hard to develop strategies to bring out the best in every individual, they do this by setting demanding but achievable targets for all children.
The success of the club is largely dependant on the support from parents/guardians, families and friends of the players thus reaching a long way into the community. One of our successes has been Craig Pead he played for Chapelfields Colts, and then went on to play for Coventry City FC and now plays for Walsall.
